Savvy reinforces its commitment to the CFAA by updating its Savvy FOG platform

Imagine manufacturing components where a millimeter of deviation or an incorrect piece of data can ruin a highly valuable part. In aeronautical manufacturing, where quality and precision requirements border on the limit, operating with imprecise information is not an option.

However, if you work in strategic sectors like aeronautics, you know you face a unique challenge. Strict cybersecurity regulations and the need to maintain data sovereignty prevent you, in most cases, from operating in cloud computing environments.

This poses a huge challenge:

How can you digitize your processes and scale Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects while maintaining total control of information within your own plant?

That is why today we want to ground this concept and share with you an important step on this path: the recent update of the Savvy FOG system that we have carried out at the Aeronautical Advanced Manufacturing Center (CFAA).

What is the CFAA and why does it trust our technology?

The CFAA is a research center that simulates a real pilot production environment for the aerospace sector by developing and validating advanced manufacturing technologies. Given the critical nature of its activity, the center needed an architecture that guaranteed that all information, processing, and generated knowledge remained within its facilities.

The solution was to implement our Savvy Industrial Fog technology. This has allowed them to automate the flow of information and orchestrate the development of AI models, all without relying on external infrastructures.

Being a leading center that is always testing and validating the upcoming technological additions in the sector, staying at the forefront is a key factor. That is why this recent update is so vital, as it allows them to incorporate the latest advances in Artificial Intelligence and data integration without compromising the security of their isolated environment.

Savvy FOG Platform: All the potential of the cloud in your own plant

To understand the success of this implementation, we must define exactly what Savvy Industrial Fog is. It is our on-premises solution that inherits all the stable updates of our Cloud version. Basically, it is the "brain" that receives data from the Edge devices on the shop floor, organizes it, and visualizes it in a comprehensive way so you can make strategic decisions.

In addition, it equips devices with the necessary intelligence to analyze information right at the machine, allowing AI algorithms to run on the Edge for immediate decision-making.

These are some of its key advantages:

  • Orchestration and Management (DevOps/MLOps): Allows for the deployment and easy management of a fleet of applications and algorithms residing on SmartEdge devices.

  • Scalability: Automation of processes for management, processing, filtering, and computing across multiple industrial assets, streamlining the deployment and maintenance of large fleets.

  • Governance and Privacy: Data supervision and control with AD/LDAP access credential integration.

What did the Savvy system update consist of?

At Savvy, we bet on continuous innovation. Savvy Industrial Platform is constantly evolving. We continuously invest in digitization and new functionalities so your system never falls behind, which translates into a multitude of updates and technological improvements throughout the year.

While in the Cloud format we deploy these updates constantly and automatically, in the Fog environment—due to its technical and security specificities—the process is carried out annually. This way, we ensure that your local infrastructure periodically inherits the full potential of our platform in a stable and controlled manner.

This latest update of the FOG puts the CFAA back at the forefront of digitization technologies, incorporating all the new features we have released to the market during the year.

To achieve a rapid deployment with minimal impact, the action plan has addressed the following technical fronts:

  • Core Reinforcement and Update: We have updated the foundations of the system. This includes updating operating systems, packages, and all dependencies that ensure the robustness of Savvy technology.

  • Control Center Evolution: We deployed the latest version of our Savvy Industrial Platform. As the central brain of the system, this update activates the complete catalog of new functionalities and optimizes the configuration of the entire ecosystem.

  • Optimization of Critical Services: We have modernized all vital services responsible for orchestration and advanced data processing, guaranteeing fluid and efficient communication within the platform.

  • SmartEdge Intelligent Update: Instead of going one by one, we launched mass commands to synchronize the entire fleet of Edge devices. This ensures that every node in the network works with the latest technology.

  • Cybersecurity Validation: We close the process with a security validation. We have sanitized the disk arrays to maximize storage efficiency and verified that each node meets the most demanding protection standards.

Conclusion

When everything moves at high speed, keeping your systems updated is vital so you don't fall behind. Cases like the CFAA demonstrate that Edge and FOG are your indispensable allies if you seek maximum precision, innovation, and industrial cybersecurity.

Don't let your plant's architecture be a roadblock to your digitization.
